The Result: An Enhanced Sense of Well Being
Everyone needs to relax. The planet's moving way too fast. Environmental change is causing planetary psychological and physical suffering. The sound mandalas you download from this site are small mobile sonic villages spewed by some miraculous desert energies through my body and the bodies of several other sonic mystics. Our intention is to ameliorate suffering in all its forms.
Sonic mysticism is intentional sound, sound infused with the essence of an idea. The wish to be of benefit.
The sound we create is intentional sound as a global healing project, a form of sonic environmental activism.
More and more of the time I am listening to the birds, entranced by crickets, resting my visual cortex to discover internal wisdom frequencies being broadcast from within all life. Sound is empty, emptiness is sound. Birds dream bird dreams.

Sound Yoga Sessions: Padma Soundsystem creates the yoga of sound. All the music available here was initially performed and recorded live at Yoga Oasis in Tucson. The healing comes from this collective of humans being one with sound. Participants learn a meditation method and briefly tone sacred syllables. For the remainder of the session everyone lies down on yoga mats and listens. This is very relaxing.
The group is a collective of musicians, artists and integrative healers who practice a modern version of an ancient form of yoga which was created over 5000 years ago to compliment Hatha Yoga. Sonic structures of energy and consciousness form the basis of Sound Yoga in the same way that postures and asanas form the basis of a physical yoga practice. The yoga of sound optimizes the performance of chakras and maintains the subtler aspects of our being. Participants report an enhanced sense of well being.
We perform each week at Yoga Oasis and record our performances to offer sound healing in the form of podcasts, CDs and MP3 downloads. Please help yourself to free music and consider supporting us by becoming a sonic patron.

People continually tell us how they benefit from our music which is very gratifying, but this also reflects the power of their own intention. Our heart felt intention is to benefit the listener. At each performance people lie down on yoga mats, close their eyes and experience the healing vibration of our sound, which is a pretty unique setting for the performance of music. But we all seem to be transported by sound into moments where our minds are not preoccupied with discursive thoughts. The benefit is immediate and very pleasantly relaxing.
